That's the job of the T cells. They destroy antigens tagged by antibodies or cells that are infected or somehow changed. (Some T cells are actually called "killer cells.")
What roll do T cells play:
When the body is under attack, from a bacteria, virus, cancer, etc., T cells (lymphocyte immune cells) protect the body from pathogens and cancer cells. T cells originate from bone marrow and mature in the thymus. They are important for cell mediated immunity and the activation of immune cells to fight infection. However, before the T cells are activated your body has already been affected by the pathogen—bacteria or virus—plus it has multiplied and become stronger and then they start to fight against it.
